5 TIPS to DOMINATE 1v1 Futsal Situations + Drill
Many players struggle with scoring or defending in tight spaces during 1v1 situations, often leading to missed opportunities. This is where most futsal players get frustrated, as they find it hard to create space and time to think in those pressure situations. Imagine having the ball at your feet, with an opponent right in your face, and you need to make a quick decision to either pass the ball to your teammate or get past opponent. It's a challenging situation that requires skill, speed, and cleverness. But what if I told you there's a way to overcome these struggles and turn the tables in your favor? A way to make those 1v1 situations a strength rather than a weakness.
3 tips before you dribble in futsal
In order to succeed in 1v1 situations a player must understand some basic rules.
- First of all, dribble past your opponent only if there are no other opponents behind his or her back. Otherwise you will outplay one player and another one will stop you.
- Second - only dribble past your opponent if you had a good first touch and have the ball under full control.
- Third - dribble past your opponent if you have momentum. If you are going backwords and your opponent is pushing you, this would not be the best moment to try and outplay him or her. In this situation it's better to prefer a pass.
Necessary futsal skills
But before we get to the drill, let's list the most important skills, you need to be improving in order to succeed in 1v1 situations:
- 1st touch
- ball control
- laterality
- body positioning

- decision-making
- footwork
- 2 pairs of players located on the flank
- any player from the opposite flank makes a pass towards them
- the first player to the ball becomes an attacker and from this moment is allowed to score in any goal
- the player who coulnd't be the first to the ball becomes a defender and now has to take the ball away from an attacker and prevent him or her from scoring
- if defender gets a hold of the ball, now he or she becomes an attacker
